It is a very rare crab and is near extinction. It weighs about 400 grams. Its shell is 8 cm wide and 10 cm long. Its left and right claws are the same size and are 14 cm long. Its legs are 10 cm long. Mr. Somnid Chuchai said that at 5 am, his son went out to tap rubber and accidentally found this crab behind the house. It had both claws raised and was eating grass. The area behind the house was a cement floor and a hole. The surrounding area was a vegetable garden. It is assumed that this crab probably lived in this hole and came out to eat grass and vegetables. His house is about 4 km from Khao Banthat Wildlife Sanctuary and about 500 m from the canal. The son had never seen such a strange crab before, so he caught it and locked it up. He called the people in the house and neighbors to come and see. Everyone said that they had never seen such a strange crab in their lifetime. Now they have contacted officials from the Phatthalung Provincial Fisheries Office and related officials or experts to come and check what species it is.
