Nakhon Phanom, The most beautiful and magnificent event in Thailand, the traditional ceremony to worship the Lord Sri Satta Nakarat in Nakhon Phanom, is held grandly every 7th day of the 7th month for 7 days and 7 nights. This year's highlight is the 7-meter-high giant Bai Sri tray, along with thousands of dancers. 'Namtan-Captain Chompoo' join in the dance offering. Beautiful and magnificent, the traditional ceremony to worship Phraya Sri Satta Nakarat in Nakhon Phanom Province is held annually on the 7th day of the 7th month to stimulate the economy, trade, and tourism in line with government policy to support the elevation of secondary cities to major tourism cities. This year, it will be held from 7-13 July, for a total of 7 days and 7 nights. The event began last night (7 July 2024) at the Naga landmark, Phraya Sri Satta Nakarat, on the banks of the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom Municipality. Within the event, there are dancers from various tribes in all 12 districts, totaling more than 1,000 people, joining in dancing in a long line as far as the eye can see. It is a dance dedicated to the Naga according to traditional beliefs. Throughout the 7 days, in the evening, there will be a dance offering from dancers from various tribes, no less than 700 people per day. The highlight of this year's event is the procession of worship offerings, a giant Bai Sri tray, 7 meters high, led by Mrs. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, along with the Governor of Nakhon Phanom, community leaders, locals, and tens of thousands of Thai and Lao tourists. This is considered a special event, bigger than any other year, to pay homage to Phaya Sri Sattanakarat, the Naga King on both sides of the Mekong River, expressing faith and belief in the traditional ceremony of worshipping Phaya Sri Sattanakarat. After the opening ceremony last night, the minister led the public and tourists to join in a dance offering. This year, there were Miss Universe Thailand 2016 'Namtan' Chalita Suansane and 'Captain Chompoo' Pornpu n Kerdprach, a Thai national volleyball player who is a descendant of Nakhon Phanom people, joining in the colorful dance. Mr. Thanapat Teethananon, President of the Nakhon Phanom Chamber of Commerce, said that the ceremony to worship Phraya Sri Sattanakarat is a grand traditional event of Nakhon Phanom Province, showing the power of faith from people from all directions, both Thai and Lao. Since the establishment of Phraya Sri Sattanakarat, it has had a positive effect on Nakhon Phanom Province, with changes in every aspect.
