Thailand prepares for another storm, the 15th wave

General

The heavy rain and flash flood situation from Typhoon Yangi has just passed. There is a warning that Thailand must prepare for the 15th storm in the upper Northeast and upper North, which will have heavy rain. There is a warning that tributaries will overflow and flood low-lying areas again. Mr. Chavalit Chantararat, Director and Water Expert, Team Group, revealed that currently, the formation of a 'low pressure cell' is getting stronger in the northern part of the Philippines and has not yet been named, so it is called storm number 15. Initially, it was predicted that storm number 15 would follow in the footsteps of Typhoon Yangi, but the cold air mass and high pressure from China pushed down slightly, causing this storm to change direction downwards and make landfall in Danang, Vietnam, instead of Hainan and Hanoi. It is expected that on September 18 or 19, this storm will reach Danang and will immediately affect Thailand. The Andaman coast of the South will see more rain, from Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Trang, and heavy rain in the East, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat, which must be monitored because there are weak points in Chanthaburi and Rayong provinces and some areas. But what is more concerning is the area along the Mekong River, which has been flooded since September 13, especially Nong Khai Province, from Sri Chiang Mai District to Phon Phisai District. Although the water level has been continuously decreasing, it is still higher than the bank. Tomorrow, the water level in the Mekong River in Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan will rise another 30 centimeters. People living along the Mekong River should prepare themselves because storm number 15, which will make landfall in Danang tomorrow, will cause an average of 80-90 millimeters of rain in Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan Provinces. It is expected that the rain will be heavier on the evening of September 19-20 because the storm will reach Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, and Udon Thani Provinces. In particular, people in Nong Khai and Phon Phisai District s must prepare for the overflowing water. As for Sakon Nakhon, which currently has a lot of water, from Nam Un, Si Songkhram, Wanorn Niwat, and Akat Amnuay Districts to Tha Uthen District, on September 19-20, the water level will rise to the same level as last week. Be careful, there may be flooding again. Before the storm moves slightly north and enters Nan Province, where rain will start from 20 September onwards. On 21 November, the storm will reach the upper part of Nan Province, from Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Tha Wang Pha, Bo Kluea and Mueang Nan District, which were flooded twice before. Storm No. 15 will bring more rain to Nan Province than Storm Yagi, so caution is needed. Upper Phrae, Phayao, Chiang Rai and upper Chiang Mai, upper Lampang must also be vigilant. However, storm number 15 is smaller than storm Yagi and the amount of rain will not be as much as storm Yagi which fell heavily for 3 consecutive days at 100 millimeters, 100 millimeters and 200 millimeters or a total of 400 millimeters fo r 3 days. But for storm number 15, it is expected that there will be heavy rain for only 2 days totaling 250 millimeters, which is less than storm Yagi. Therefore, it is believed that it will not cause the Mae Sai River to overflow the banks or if it does, it will not be as much as storm Yagi. In Chiang Rai Province, there may be water rising to flood low-lying areas such as Mae Ai District, but not much and it will be gone in 5 days. The 14th storm of the year, Pulasan, is moving north-west. As a result, on September 18, there will be very heavy rain in Taiwan. On September 19, there will be very heavy rain in Xiamen City, Fujian Province and nearby areas. Then on September 20-21, there will be heavy rain in Jiangxi Province and then it will dissipate. Pulasan will not affect Thailand. Source: Thai News Agency
