Pakornwut' disagrees with 'Anonymous Singer' filing to dissolve 'Pheu Thai', insists that the people should be the ones to decide through the polls, says it is the right of the critics to be influenced or not, looking at outsiders is not an important factor, believes the new Senate will work easily, hopes to join in amending the constitution together Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, acting chief whip of the opposition, gave an interview about the amendment of the constitution, which will enter the joint consideration of the parliament later this month, after the government sent a signal to consider the process of dissolving parties and the ethics of politicians. He said that there have been some informal discussions, both about dissolving parties and investigating the ethics of Mr. Settha Thavisin, the former prime minister. From the discussions, it is known that it is against democratic principles. However, he understands that each party, which will have any stand on behalf of the party, must have a detailed discussion within the party first. However, initially, almost all MPs in the parliament agreed on what the principles of democracy should be, regarding the power of the Constitutional Court, including the establishment and dissolution of parties, what the process should be, and whether political parties should be easy to establish and difficult to dissolve. However, there will probably be discussions among each political party again, and several drafts of the constitution to be amended have already been included, proposed by the Prachachon Party, but there may be more, which may have to be separated between the amendment of the constitution and the amendment of the organic act (Act) because the dissolution of the party will be in the organic act, which will take some time. When asked if it would be easier to assess the new senators who will join in amending the constitution, Mr. Pakornwut said that if compared to the previous set, he thought it would be easier. But how easy it would be, to be honest, he had never met with the new senators, so it might be difficult to assess. But if assessed generally, the new senators would be 100% easier than the previous set, but he would have to talk to the senators at the whip level first. When asked about the anonymous person who filed a petition to the Election Commission (EC) to dissolve the Pheu Thai Party because former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was taking over, Mr. Pakornwut said that he must say that he does not agree with anyone filing a petition to dissolve a political party on this charge. In principle, on any charge, the party should be dissolved because the people did not vote for that party. He thinks that when an outsider has influence over any party, it is something that the people can criticize and can decide through the voting booth. Whether the Prime Minister or party leader is governing the country by himself or being influenced by others, it is the right to criticize and it is the right of the people to decide whether it is right or wrong or not. But it must not be like letting a few people decide that it is illegal and then having a few people file a petition to dissolve the party. As for the investigation into the work of the government of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the opposition is doing it according to the normal process that they have always done, whether they are investigating the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha or the government of Mr. Settha, we will do it accordingly and see whether the results that come out are consistent with what was promised to the people and where it will lead the country. As for outsiders, I think that they are not an important factor. Source: Thai News Agency
