Bangkok, GPSC joins hands with the Renewable Energy Industry Group, FTI, to sign a memorandum of understanding for 10 agencies to join the 'Kon Mee Fai Year 2' project in 2024 to jointly install solar power systems. Each agency will use the money from reduced electricity bills to develop communities and surrounding society, preparing for Thailand's sustainable transition to a carbon-neutral society. Mrs. Parinda Ma-imjai, Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Administration, Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), the innovation leader of the power business of PTT Group, revealed that today (7 August), GPSC organized the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding for the 'People with Fire Year 2' Project for the year 2024, which is a collaboration between GPSC and the Renewable Energy Industry Group, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), with 10 selected agencies from non-profit public agencies or organizations operating in the fields of education, public health, and the environment . This project promotes the use of renewable energy in energy management within the organization that is environmentally friendly, in line with GPSC's main mission of delivering clean energy and creating access to electricity for communities and society. For the 10 selected agencies, they include the Giant Freshwater Prawn Conservation Association, Phatthalung Province, Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center, Rayong Province, Faculty of Public Health, Kasetsart University, Sakon Nakhon Province, Ban Phalat Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital, Phayao Province, Ban Nong Yai School, Chachoengsao Province, Kaset Sombun School, Chaiyaphum Province, Khun Khwak Phittaya School, Chiang Rai Province, College of Agriculture and Technology, Chachoengsao Province, Wat Salak Phet School, Trat Province, and Ban Huai Thap Mon School, Rayong Province. GPSC supports the installation of solar power generation systems, as well as transfers knowledge on the use and maintenance of solar cell systems to all agencies to cr eate efficient energy management. It is expected that the On-Grid solar power generation system will be delivered with a capacity of 100 kilowatts, saving more than 600,000 baht in energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCo2eq) per year. The project aims to encourage agencies to participate and own solar power systems as a model for developing knowledge for communities in energy conservation. It is also an important part in pushing communities and agencies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and enter a carbon-neutral society. In addition, the project encourages each agency to use the budget saved from reduced electricity costs to further develop community development projects in the area, such as job creation, public utility development, and the creation of energy learning centers, etc. For the People with Electricity Project, the first year in 2023, the installation of solar power generation systems has been completed for 5 organizations, a nd they were able to deliver 107.46 kilowatts of on-grid solar power generation systems, saving more than 600,000 baht in energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 73,387 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCo2eq) per year. This is coupled with the implementation of social development projects to be passed on to local communities, including the Ubon Ratchathani University Science Park Project with support for local food processing careers, Nakhon Sawan College of Agriculture and Technology with the Agricultural Innovation Learning Center, Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Hospital, Health Region 8, Udon Thani Province with the Thai Traditional Medicine Drug Addiction Clinic Project, the Newspaper Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, Bangkok Province with the Community Drinking Water Dispenser Service Project, and the Environmental Foundation, Na Muen Sri Weaving Community Enterprise, Trang Province with the Local Weaving Career Creation Project for Students in the Area.
