The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that China hopes the visit will help make the U.S. Congress more understanding about China and that Beijing welcomes the U.S. congressional delegation. The Chinese Foreign Ministry also said that The Chinese government hopes that this visit will promote dialogue and exchanges between the two countries' parliamentary organizations and bring good news to the development of relations between the two countries.
A six-member US congressional delegation is scheduled to travel to Beijing next week. It is the latest group of US officials to visit China. At a time when both countries are trying to resolve tensions between them on various issues of security and economy. The report said Mr Schumer hopes to meet with President Xi Jinping and will raise a wide range of matters for discussion, from the conducive atmosphere for American businesspeople in China to human rights.
