Parliament, Tourism Committee prepares to summon Apple to clarify next week after publishing advertisements that affect Thailand's image Mr. Sattra Sripan, MP for Songkhla, Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, as spokesman for the Tourism Committee, announced after the committee meeting that he was concerned after Apple released a new video advertisement using Thailand as the location for filming. The advertisement was widely discussed on social media, saying that it made Thailand look backward, devalued safety, and had an outdated public transportation system, which many people were not happy about. In addition, the government's main policy is to support soft power, but the advertisement has had a significant impact on Thailand's image, especially in terms of tourism. In the past, we had a lesson from a film that showed that there were kidnappings in Thailand, causing Chinese people to avoid traveling to Thailand for a while. The Tourism Committee agreed that many relevant agencies had been indifferent to the case, so it was decided to invite relevant organizations and agencies, such as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Director of the Creative Economy Agency, and the Managing Director of Apple Thailand Co., Ltd., to provide clarification to the Committee. However, as someone who has been following the brand for a long time, I would like to express my opinion to Apple that Thai people are very dissatisfied with the advertisement. If it is not corrected, they will have to stop using the product. I would like to campaign to stop using Apple and let Thai people use other brands. Source: Thai News Agency
